Saturday mornings

For families of all ages

Time and time again, we've seen children gaining so much from their engagement with the farm; a sense of belonging in the natural world, and a deep-rooted belief that they have something valuable to contribute to their community at any age. Whether your youngest is 2 years old or 12, this program is for you.

Farming Skills For All, or FSFA, is for families. This is a multiaged program that invites adult and child to learn animal husbandry together. FSFA will run from 9:30-11:30 on Saturdays (ages 2+). The first hour of programming will be dedicated to completing our daily animal and garden chores. The second hour of programming will focus on a specific area of the farm (goats, chickens, garden, bunnies). (If you arrive to the Farm, and cannot find the group, check the Greenhouse or the Barn!)

Pricing

We price FSFA on a sliding scale. We have three tiers:

Support: $35

this price covers credit card fees and it helps us to maintain the tiered pricing model to expand access to our community. Please consider paying the "support" price if you:

  • ... Are securely employed and live in a multi-income home

  • ... Do not have significant loans or debt that inhibit your everyday spending

  • ... Would not require community support in the case of emergencies

Standard: $25

this is the cost to deliver this programming. Please consider paying the "standard" price if you:

  • ... Are securely employed and/or live in a multi-income home

  • ... Have an amount of savings that brings you relative financial security

  • ... Have access to community financial support in cases of emergency

Community: $10

The "community" price is for those those who could not otherwise afford to attend Summer Camp. For example, if you are...

  • ... Underemployed

  • ... Have limited or no access to community financial support in the case of emergency

  • ... Are disabled in any way that inhibits your ability to work

  • Please email newvillagefarmprograms@gmail.com for inquiries about community pricing

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Safety is number one. There is inherent risk associated with working on the farm. Then add small kids! We are a working farm with heavy machinery, tools, electric fences, animals, river ditches, etc. Our farmers will help, but the parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring the safety of their children.

  • Parents and guardians are responsible for managing their children’s behavior (e.g. tantrums, interpersonal conflicts, hurt feelings, etc).

  • We are a fully outdoor program. In order for your child to thrive in this environment, they will need appropriate clothing and gear (e.g. boots, hats, gloves, sunscreen, etc). Please check the weather before you head out to the farm.

  • We encourage families to bring water and a snack.

  • We always recommend an end of day tick check
