Are your programs completely outdoors?

We are out in the elements whenever possible, learning how to adjust to the weather's ever-changing nature.

We have two indoor spaces that provide shelter from wind and heavy rain, our barn and our greenhouse. Our designated thunderstorm shelter is in our barn. However, mild rain and cold weather often won’t stop us from spending the day in the great outdoors!

How do you stay safe on the farm?

We recognize that farm life involves inherent risks. To manage these risks, we set clear guidelines, review safety practices before activities, and encourage calm attentiveness, thoughtful decision-making, and mutual support. If a child cannot participate safely for themselves, others, or the animals, parents will be contacted for pickup.

How do you accommodate different ages within a program?

Many of our programs span multiple age groups, which we see as one of our greatest strengths. Younger students benefit from looking up to older peers as role models, while older students gain confidence by mentoring and teaching the younger participants. This multi-age model naturally fosters responsibility, leadership, and collaboration.

Are there regular breaks for snack and rest?

Yes! Our programs include multiple times throughout the day for children to eat, drink, and simply relax. We encourage kids to prioritize their own needs, after all, “we can’t take care of the animals and each other  if we aren’t fueling our bodies and allowing them to recharge.” If a child needs an extra snack, water, or a short break, we always make space for them to do so.

Our staff completes a Red Cross certified First Aid and CPR training course once a year. Many of our staff are also Wilderness First Aid certified.

Where do I use the bathroom at the farm?

We have one porta potty on site year-round and two on site during the summer. They are serviced weekly. For those who are more comfortable taking a nature pee, we will point you in the direction of a private area.
