About the event
What is goat haltering, you may ask, and why do we do it? Goat haltering is an immersive, hands-on experience that invites participants to slow down, practice patience, and connect deeply with the animals. Through this workshop, you will learn to attune to your goat’s nonverbal cues, build trust, and walk them gently on a halter.
At New Village Farm, we believe that haltering goats cultivates perseverance, groundedness, and connection, linking the individual to both the animal and the rhythms of the farm. It is a joyful, enriching experience for learners of all abilities, offering insight into animal behavior and meaningful engagement with the natural world.
This workshop is open to ages 5 and up (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). No prior experience is necessary. During the session, you will:
Learn to read goat body language
Practice fitting and using a halter
Walk and guide your goat…
